Common Light LA began as a way to keep one discipline visible: return to the street, notice what changes, and edit without protecting the memory of the walk.
The archive is intentionally small. Photographs rotate as new relationships appear between them. The field notes record practical decisions—where to stand, how long to wait, why a frame failed—because process is often more useful than a polished result.
Open by design
The course is available without registration. Lessons can be read in order or used as individual assignments. Nothing here requires a particular camera, neighborhood, or level of experience.
The project is maintained independently. It does not sell personal data, run advertising trackers, or collect passwords through the members’ page.
